Visiting Camp

Our first priority during the Camp Season is the health and safety of our campers, Leaders, and staff. To that end, our concerted efforts need to be focused on them. Parents, grandparents, or family members with a camper on campus will not be allowed to visit during the season.

To inquire about a tour or visit to Camp Dudley, please contact Anita Johnson (anita@campdudley.org) or Dawn Gay (dawn@campdudley.org).

To inquire about a tour or visit to Camp Kiniya, please contact Marnie McDonagh (marnie@campdudley.org).

Directions to Camp Dudley

By Car:

From the north, south, or west: Take I 87 (the Northway) that is the main route between Albany and Montreal to exit 31. At the exit, go (east) to Westport on Route 9N. Go through town on Route 9N/22 South. 1.5 miles after leaving the Village of Westport, you will see the Dudley Rd. on the left, with a sign that points to Camp Dudley. Follow this road until you see the Camp.

From Vermont, cross Lake Champlain by the ferry at Charlotte, go south on Rt. 22 to Westport, then follow directions above; or use the bridge at Crown Point, NY, and take Rt. 22 & 9N north. About 9 miles past Port Henry you will see a sign for Camp Dudley pointing to the right. Follow this road to Camp Dudley.

For shipping luggage to or from Camp, please see below under “Luggage and Transportation.”

By Train:

Amtrak has a train that leaves Penn Station in New York City daily in the morning and, with no switching of trains, arrives at the Westport Train Station in the afternoon. If you tell us your son’s train schedule, we will pick him up at the train station. This is a great opportunity for a group to travel together.

By Plane to Burlington, Vermont and Albany, NY:

Burlington and Albany Airports are served by many airlines, including USAir, Continental, and United. Your son’s flight should be scheduled to arrive at one of these airports on the opening day for the Camp season, or the first day of the second session, depending on the session which your son is attending. We prefer that your son arrive before 3 PM. This will allow him to have his first meal and a full evening with his new cabin-mates and Leaders on his first day of Camp. There may be some cases when boys need to arrive later in the day. Please let the Office know (in advance) of any arrivals after 3:00 p.m.

Camp Dudley will arrange ground transportation from the Burlington or Albany Airports to Camp. You must let us know the time of arrival, airline and flight number.  Return Flight: Your son’s return flight must be on either the closing day of the first session or the closing day of the Camp season, depending on the session which your son is attending, and must be scheduled for 3 PM or later. Do not schedule a flight before 3 PM, since transportation to the airport cannot be arranged.

For All Boys Under the Age of 12 Traveling by Plane:

Most airlines consider boys under the age of 12 to be “an unaccompanied minor.” Check with your airline to ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed and in the child’s possession when he flies. He will need these papers on both his outbound and return flights. We cannot be responsible for this required paperwork…it can only be completed by parents or guardians.

If you are interested in coordinating group transportation for boys in your area either by public conveyance or by charter, contact the Camp Office. We can assist you by providing contact information for other campers in the vicinity. In your acceptance packet, we have provided postcards for you to use to notify us of how your son is arriving/departing. If you have any questions call the Camp Office at 518-962-4720. We want to make sure your son’s trip to Camp Dudley is smooth for him and for you.

LUGGAGE AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

We strongly suggest that anyone traveling to and from Camp by public transportation, carry only the luggage they can handle independently. In addition, as we have limited vehicle space, this helps us greatly, particularly when picking up large groups.Interested in shipping luggage to and from Camp? Please read below.
