Shiro Nogaki, #25737

Cos Cob, CT

About

Shiro was first introduced to Camp Dudley when #24737 Michael thrived as a Cub in 2017. Shiro felt his son was “inspired by the support of his bunkmates, love for sweaty days and chilly nights, all the while learning to be humble yet stand up for truth.” This impact led twins, #25131 Charlie and #25292 Lily to join their brother at Dudley and Kiniya in 2019. Shiro had the good fortune to personally witness the Dudley experience during the Father/Son Weekend in February 2019.  He truly felt unanticipated fulfillment.

Shiro has worked for the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi for over 20 years. Recently rebranded MUFJ, Shiro is the Head of Rates Sales & Trading, a team of Fixed Income, Derivatives, Central Funding in both the United States and Canada. He is also responsible for the bank and securities, X-Valuation Adjustments Management.

Shiro was born in Osaka, Japan, and attended school in Japan and in the United States. He spent time at the American School In Japan before returning to the United States as an exchange student at Greenwich High School, where he graduated. Shiro earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Concentration in Finance) from the University of Vermont.

Shiro’s’ wife, Katie Galbreath Nogaki, grew up in Greenwich, CT, where she currently stays home to raise their four children. Katie holds both undergraduate and M.Ed degrees from Boston College, specializing in urban education.

Shiro was extremely drawn to Camp Dudley, particularly after seeing his first hymn sing. He looks forward to his work on the board and would like to see his youngest daughter, May enjoy a similar experience as her siblings. Building a sustainable business in the United States while preserving the MUFG mission, rooted in Japanese culture, is an integral part of his job. Says Shiro, “The key strengths I bring to the board include finance and diversity. I look forward to supporting the Dudley/Kiniya mission as it continues to thrive in these ever-changing times.”
