The Cabin is the nucleus of the Kiniya Experience and each cabin is overseen by its Leadership Team. This team includes a Cabin Leader (who must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate), an Assistant Leader (17 years old) or Junior Leader (16 years old) and for our younger girls an Aide (15 years old and the first year of leadership.) Essentially all of the leaders at each level have come up through the Kiniya program and have excellent first hand knowledge of Camp.
Many of the summer’s most important experiences happen in the cabin setting… Vespers, cabin suppers, team building, and inspection. Cabins sit together and eat family style for each meal, three times a day. In the cabin group the Leader acts as the teacher, mentor, parent, sister and coach.
Upon arrival, campers are placed into Cub, Catamount (Cats), Junior or Senior Division. Our Cub campers are our youngest and Seniors are our oldest. We have 18 cabins that make of up these four divisions and they range in size from 6 to 11 campers. Some of our cabins are equipped with their very own bathroom! This includes several showers, toilets, and sinks. Our cabins on the south side of campus use the Senior Bathhouse, built in 2012 located across from Loft and Ark cabins.
Every cabin at Kiniya is unique and brings its own personality and traditions. Many of our cabins carry Kiniya history with them while others are named for historic Camp family names. This makes the cabin a true home for campers and leaders allowing them to grow as a family unit.
