#12664 Theodore H. “Ted” Smith is Dean of Students for the Upper School for Academics and Discipline at Berwick Academy in Maine, where he has taught since 1998. During this period he has also taught French, worked in Admissions and College Counseling, and coached the boys varsity soccer team. Prior to Berwick, Ted taught at Brewster Academy and the Woodberry Forest Summer Program.
Ted came to Camp in the ’70s and ’80s, rising from camper in 1979 to Plebe Division Head in 1994. He served as Vice President and President of the CDA for the past four years. Says Ted, “I now love and respect the place from a different view, that of a parent, which has been as special as my own experience as a camper.”
Ted and his wife Laura live in South Berwick, ME, with their three children, #22064 Tucker, #21064 Margot and Crosby. Said Ted, “As a parent of Dudleyites, as well as a high school teacher, I think I have a pulse on the challenges our campers and leaders face, and hope to lend my experience to those conversations at the Board level.”
On his many trips to Dudley from Maine, Ted packs his guitar, striking up tunes from Mellow Fest to the Velvet Boot, and has also found time to hike 36 of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks.
