Successful alumni gatherings in NYC and Boston… and DC is next!
Matt, Marnie and Ryan traveled to New York City on March 10th for a “Dudley of the 1990’s” gathering hosted by #15017 Evan George and #18079 Diana McGuigan George. Alums in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s (with a few who snuck in under or over!) watched a slide show of their era at Dudley, munched on hors d’oeuvres and discussed what Dudley and Kiniya are doing today. Marnie and Matt encouraged everyone to visit our campuses in Westport and Colchester, recruit prospective campers and remain in touch. Ryan explained how to give back to Camp through the Willie J. Schmidt Scholarship Fund. Board members #11373 Mike Stevens and #12764 Chris Perry joined us and shared a laugh or two…not sure how old these two actually are?! A wonderful evening at The Arsenal in Central Park and big thanks to everyone who made it on a very rainy night!
Beantown was the next stop on our Alumni event trail and we were graciously hosted by #16849 Tim Powell and #19496 Jane Phelan at the Union Oyster House. Nearly 50 alums in their 20’s thru 50’s gathered at, “…the nations oldest continuously operating restaurant,” to laugh, reminisce, and hear about, “…the nation’s oldest continuously operating summer camp!” This time around, Outdoor Program Director, #15509 Scott Steen, came along to speak about our Boys Camping Society (BCS) summer and winter programs. Ryan noted that the Leaders and Staff of 2010 raised more than $7,500 for scholarship with 100% participation on both sides of the lake… and some of those donors were in the room and received well-deserved applause. After presenting the recruitment video, Matt encouraged everyone to make a visit to Westport and/or Colchester very soon. Board member, #19517 Brent Shay, recruited a few of the familiar faces in the room for the event and CDA President, #12664 Ted Smith, spoke to the crowd about the Camp Dudley Association (CDA) reunion open to all parents and alums, August 18 – 21, 2011. Many thanks to the great Boston crowd for reconnecting with Dudley.
We are off to the Nation’s Capital on Cinco de Mayo! On Thursday, May 5, 2011 the Dudley-Alumni travel bus lands in DC to welcome more alums. #15741 Mark Wooters and #15328 JD Boyle open the doors of PJ Clarke’s from 6:30 – 9:00PM to discuss all things Dudley and hear more about how YOU can continue to be involved. If you live in the DC area or find yourself there that evening, please feel free to join! PJ Clarke’s is located at: 1600 K Street NW. Contact Ryan@campdudley.org for more details. We look forward to seeing you!
